Former NFL player accused of drug possession

A man who had formerly played in the NFL and Florida State University is now facing drug possession and gun charges. He was jailed recently on a bond of $15,000 for the drugs and a weapon that were discovered during a police traffic stop, according to police. Similarly, when Florida residents are faced with the prospect of defending themselves against drug possession charges, they may choose to consult a criminal defense attorney.

Police have accused the 29-year-old Delray Beach man of cocaine possession. They have also accused him of displaying a firearm, in addition to evidence tampering, according to the arrest records. He was booked into the Palm Beach County jail a little before 9 p.m.

A police officer noticed the man around 3:50 p.m. as he left a gas station in a black vehicle, according to the Boca Raton police report. The cop claims that the man didn’t come to a complete stop for a stop sign, and the officer believed that the window tint on the man’s vehicle was darker than what is legally allowed. He tried to pull the man over, but according to the police officer, the man kept driving. Three-quarters of a mile later, the man slowly came to a stop. Police say they found marijuana in a mason jar under the car’s floorboard, as well as cocaine that was located in a zippered bag that was also on the floorboard.

The accused individual will be fully entitled to a criminal defense, which will include the right to representation by an attorney during the pending legal proceedings in a Florida criminal court. If a conviction is ultimately secured, a drug possession charge often come with severe penalties. Nevertheless, this individual has yet to be convicted of anything and has every right to contest the accusations vigorously — this includes the claimed evidence on which the accusations are based. Constitutional protections against unreasonable searches and seizures may prove to be a focal point of the man’s defense counsel as they prepare a defense for the current accusations.
