Three individuals were arrested in St. Augustine recently for supposed drug possession, carrying concealed firearms and drug paraphernalia, authorities say. The arrest took place in a hotel parking lot. When Florida residents are faced with defending themselves against such allegations, many typically choose to consult with an experienced criminal defense attorney.
Police were called to the scene after a business’s management wanted the three individuals removed from the property for alleged trespassing. Police say that when they arrived, they found the individuals sitting in a car that was in the parking lot. When the officers walked up to the car, one of the individuals, a 22-year-old man from Dallas, N.C., attempted to start the car and drive away, but he was stopped.
Police conducted a search of the vehicle, during which they claim they found cocaine, as well as marijuana and drug paraphernalia. The three individuals were arrested and booked into the county jail. Collectively, they are now facing charges including carrying a concealed firearm, drug possession and possessing drug paraphernalia.
When Florida residents are fighting drug possession charges, having an experienced defense attorney can make a big difference. They can use proved strategies in order to help avoid consequences that are often the result of a drug possession conviction. There are many aspects of a drug possession case to be examined, including whether or not the police conducted an illegal stop, search or seizure. This is just one of the many facets of a drug possession case that must be considered. Individuals in similar situations typically consult an experienced criminal defense attorney to best represent their interests in achieving a favorable outcome as they defend themselves against such allegations.
