Two people were recently arrested at a private residence on a recent Thursday morning in December. Police say the paid, a man and a woman, were both involved in manufacturing and trafficking of drugs. Florida residents who are accused of drug trafficking typically choose to consult an experienced criminal attorney to represent their interests, particularly in view of the potentially severe consequences a conviction could bring.
A search warrant was executed at a Cocoa residence on Thursday by the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office Investigation Unit. During the search, police say that they discovered around 56 grams of heroin, more than 30 grams of a cocaine base, utensils that were supposedly used in the process of converting the cocaine base to cocaine, as well as a small amount of methamphetamine. They also say they discovered oxycodone pills, cannabis and three handguns.
The man will be fighting a slew of drug charges, along with a weapons charge. The woman will also be fighting a number of drug-related charges. At last report, both individuals were being held in the Brevard County Jail.
Although these two individuals each face a number of criminal charges in Florida, being charged with a crime is nothing more than a formal accusation. They remain innocent in the eyes of the law unless and until prosecutors can prove guilt in court and beyond a reasonable doubt. Moreover, the government must separately prove the charges as to each defendant. Nevertheless, a drug trafficking conviction could result in severe penalties, including substantial fines and lengthy prison sentences, and separate legal counsel will fight for the best interests of his or her individual client.
