Florida teacher arrested, accused of selling drugs

Many residents of Osceola, Florida, were surprised at the news that a local teacher and long-time school employee was recently arrested on suspicion of drug crimes. The story has led to an outpouring of outrage from area residents and concern over the safety and welfare of students in the school district. The teacher who is accused of selling drugs has been placed into a position that involves no contact with minors while the case moves forward.

The 45-year-old woman has been teaching for the past nine years, although she has been employed with the school district for a total of 24 years. She was most recently providing instruction for a third-grade class. Police believe that she and her boyfriend, who is 20 years of age, are involved in the sale of LSD strips and Xanax in the area. During the investigation into the alleged drug sales, police assert that both individuals acted separately during some transactions and together in others.

The sales are alleged to have taken place in the parking lots of various places of business. The locations include Tractor Supply, GameStop and Publix stores. Police assert that the teacher was involved in at least four different drug transactions with undercover officers, and they report that a variety of drugs were sold.

The teacher was jailed on a $41,000 bond, half of which had already been paid as of the time of this report. As she begins to work on her criminal defense strategy, her interactions with the undercover police officers will play a central role in deciding how to proceed. Accusations of selling drugs is a serious matter in the state of Florida, and these two individuals face serious consequences if convicted.
