A Florida man is lying in a local hospital in critical condition after being shot by police. Officials say that the man was shot after he failed to comply with officer requests that were made as they were trying to arrest him for a prescription drug crime, among others. The incident happened in a local Palm Bay pharmacy.
A man who has been accused of being one of the leaders of a large drug gang has been convicted in a Florida federal court. The man was charged with a federal drug crime pertaining to his involvement in trafficking of cocaine and other drugs into the country. This conviction comes after an investigation that led authorities to believe that the man was instrumental in creating a new system for delivering drugs to the U.S.
Florida police conducted a sweep in Hernando County last week that resulted in the arrest and charging of several local men. Fort Myers police arrested four men during a drug bust on Thursday, April 5. Detectives claim to have identified the home as a location of drug use and drug manufacturing. With this information, they were able to obtain a warrant to search the premises for drug possession. According to police, during the bust, officers allegedly found 30 pills of MDMA, 16 grams of cocaine, two grams of cocaine base, two grams of marijuana and drug paraphernalia used to manufacture crack cocaine.
A local police patrol in Cape Coral is said to have uncovered a possible marijuana growing operation in a residence in the southwestern portion of the city on March 15. They apparently alerted the force's narcotics unit, and an investigation was said to have commenced. A man apparently arrived at the home around 5:10 p.m., though there was no indication provided to describe what connection he purportedly had to the residence.
