Search warrant brings drug trafficking charges to Florida man

Florida, like many states, has been fighting a drug epidemic for generations. Law enforcement has low tolerance for buying and selling drugs, and prosecutors work zealously to get convictions. The penalties for drug trafficking convictions are varied, depending on the type of drug and the amount in question, but they may include decades in prison and millions of dollars in fines.

Recently police searched a house and arrested a 28-year-old man. They charged him with trafficking cocaine and heroin, among other charges. The man is allegedly an associate of a 29-year-old man whom police say is a high-ranking drug dealer and who was the subject of the search warrant police executed on the house. Police say the search revealed over a quarter kilo of powder cocaine, 41 grams of heroin and 16 grams of crack cocaine. There was also a small amount of marijuana and a handgun at the scene.

Florida police arrested a 22-year-old man who was also in the house and charged him with possessing less than 20 grams of marijuana. The search continues for the man who was the subject of the warrant. In addition to the trafficking charges, the 29-year-old fugitive will be charged with felony firearm possession and selling drugs near a house of worship.

It is likely that the man who was arrested and charged with drug trafficking has contacted an attorney to begin building a defense strategy. This may include challenging the search warrant if a review suggests that police may not have executed it properly. The man’s attorney will probably examine every detail of the evidence and build a case focused on bringing about the best possible outcome.
