2 men facing drug possession charges after drug raid

Two men who have been accused of selling drugs were arrested on a recent Wednesday afternoon in St. Johns County. The two St. Augustine men were arrested on drug possession charges at a residence where, police claim, the two had been selling drugs. That residence was raided by SWAT, authorities said.

A search warrant was executed at the residence by detectives of the Special Investigations unit, as well as agents with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and one SWAT team, the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office said. The warrant was issued as investigators claim that narcotics were being sold at the residence. The two men allegedly attempted to run away when the SWAT team arrived, police say.

The 25-year-old man and the 19-year-old man were arrested and both were charged with a number of different drug possession-related charges. Two firearms were located within the residence, deputies said. A second search warrant was obtained for a vehicle at the residence after a narcotics K-9 notified police. Investigators say they found cocaine and cannabis within the vehicle.

These two accused individuals will be fully entitled to a criminal defense — this includes the right to separate representation by an attorney during the pending legal proceedings in a Florida criminal court. In the event a conviction is ultimately secured, drug possession charges typically come with severe penalties. Nevertheless, neither individual has yet to be convicted of anything and each has every right to contest the accusations, as well as the proof on which those accusations are based. These individuals will most likely consult an experienced criminal defense attorney as they seek to pursue a favorable result in court.
