Arrested man faces slew of charges, including drug possession

In early July, a Florida driver was pulled over due to suspicion of driving under the influence. The 30-year-old man had been allegedly driving erratically. After being pulled over, the man was arrested on multiple charges, including drug possession.

According to authorities, a road ranger — who assists motorists whose vehicles are disabled on the interstate — stopped to help a driver change his vehicle’s flat tire. The road ranger thought that the driver was acting abnormally. After the driver returned to his car, he proceeded to hit a barrier repeatedly as he drove away. The road ranger alerted the Florida Highway Patrol.

When the trooper pulled the driver over, the man immediately got out of his vehicle and proceeded to walk towards the patrol car. He was incapacitated to such an extent that he could not understand that the trooper was yelling to him that his vehicle was moving forward. The trooper spotted a small child in the car, raced past the man, hopped into the car and successfully stopped it before it went over the edge of a ditch, which had a precipitous drop off. The man was arrested shortly thereafter for possession of drugs, driving under the influence and child endangerment.

When an individual in Florida has been charged with a drug possession offense, they must often consider every aspect of their arrest in preparation of their defense. The review should be as comprehensive as possible as well as include any seizure of evidence or search. No matter how incriminating the evidence may seem, those that stand accused of drug possession charges are innocent until proven guilty. Consulting with an experienced drug violations attorney can help the accused by analyzing his or her case and defending his or her rights in a court of law.
