Drug possession: Arrested man’s t-shirt gave him away

A Florida man who was recently arrested for drug possession in Hudson does not have to ask authorities what tipped them off. At the time of his arrest, he was wearing a t-shirt that read, “Who needs drugs? No, seriously, I have drugs.” Perhaps the t-shirt was meant to be humorous, but police did not find it funny and ultimately charged him with drug possession.

Allegedly, the 50-year-old man was in possession of marijuana and methamphetamine. He was arrested at a local K-Mart store. Police say that prior to his arrest, the man attempted to get rid of some drugs by handing a small bag to someone behind him, but the person refused to accept the bag.

Officers say they found a small amount of methamphetamine and marijuana in the bag. Because they were two different types of substances, the man now faces two separate drug possession charges. This is not his first arrest in the area. Police claim the man has been arrested seven times in Pasco County.

Any individual arrested on drug possession charges in Florida has the right to fight the charges he or she faces in court. He or she also has the right to be represented by a criminal defense attorney who can help him or her formulate legal arguments and strategies to be used in his or her defense. An individual may choose to plead not guilty to the charges, or he or she may try to plead guilty to some or all of the charges in exchange for reduced punishments upon conviction.
