Readers in Florida may be surprised to learn about the arrest of twenty people that occurred recently on one day in our state. The arrests were for drug possession, drug trafficking and sales in addition to other criminal charges. Police say that they came after approximately two months of investigation into drug crimes in Brevard County.
Those that have been accused of crimes such as drug possession range in age from 18 to 59. They appear to be equally divided between men and women. The arrests that led to the charges happened in at least two local homes. Police says that in addition to the arrests, they found and took possession of as much as 850 grams of cannabis and a large amount of crack cocaine.
Those that now face the criminal accusations must consider whether to work to defend themselves or to negotiate some sort of plea agreement. As a part of any defense effort, they may seek to question all aspects of the situations that led to their arrests. This could include all actions of police and the handling of any evidence that could be used against them.
Being charged with a crime such as drug possession can be stressful for people in Florida. Because of the seriousness of the charges, many of these individuals may find it helpful to research potential defenses under the laws that apply to their case as they work to defend themselves. In addition, it is common for people to seek information from those that are familiar with the criminal process and that can assist them as they defend themselves.
