Elderly Florida woman arrested for drug trafficking

An elderly Florida woman and with nine others were recently arrested on drug trafficking charges, authorities say. Local authorities in Orlando, with the help of the DEA, announced on a recent Tuesday in February the arrest of 10 people allegedly involved in what appears to be a year-long drug investigation into suspected drug trafficking. When Florida individuals face drug trafficking charges similar to these, they typically choose to consult with experienced criminal defense attorneys.

The woman, a 74-year-old grandmother who was wheelchair-bound, is accused of selling drugs, primarily heroin, out of her house. The woman allegedly belonged to a drug-dealing group that sold heroin, crack, pills and weed, authorities said. Their investigation resulted in the authorities seizing over 200 grams of heroine and money on a recent weekend in February, in addition to an undisclosed number of guns.

The Central Florida drug group brought in around $300,000 from trafficking drugs from Columbia, authorities say. A DEA agent estimated that the organization, of which the woman was believed to be the main dealer, sold around 2 kilos per month. She is currently facing felony heroin trafficking, in addition to conspiracy charges.

These 10 individuals will all face a variety of drug-related charges. However, they will also each be entitled to a separate criminal defense and legal representation at every stage of the proceedings in Florida criminal court. Because drug trafficking violations come with severe penalties, those accused of these crimes typically choose to consult with experienced defense attorneys to provide guidance and support in defending against the accusations.
